In June, the Kerala government eased lockdown restrictions and allowed film shootings. Malayalam flick titled Tsunami was the first film to resume shoot post the lockdown with a minimum crew. The cast and crew have been asked to take Covid-19 tests on a regular basis post shoot. Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, was supposed to hit the screens in April. However, due to Covid-19 outbreak, the film’s release got postponed. He has also signed another film titled Ram with director Jeethu Joseph. The makers have decided to shoot next year as major portions of the film must be shot abroad.
Coming to Drishyam, it released in 2013 and is one of the best thrillers ever made in Indian cinema. It was remade in many languages and all of them turned out to be super hits. In fact, it is the first film in Malayalam to garner over Rs 50 crore at the box office. On his 60th birthday (May 21), Mohan Lal had announced that Drishyam sequel is on the cards and Jeethu Joseph will direct it. Recently, the makers of the film revealed that the team is planning to begin the shoot on August 17 adhering to government rules and regulations. According to the latest reports, Mohanlal has decided postponed the shoot by a month due to increase in the number of novel coronavirus cases across Kerala. Major portions of the film is likely to be shot in Kochi and team might begin filming only in September. The film will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor.
