Drishyam 2 was supposed to have a massive theatrical release but it did not happen. Suresh Babu safely chose an OTT release on Amazon. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.
Plot
Ram Babu is struggling with the murder case which destroyed the peace of his family. In the first part, he cleverly gets away with the crime. Now, six years pass by, and the cops come back with a vengeance and plan a super game against Ram Babu. How will he save his family this time is the story of Drishyam 2.
Performances
Venkatesh is the life and soul of Drishyam 2. He carries the film on his shoulders and anchors it quite cleverly till the end. Venky is very good in the police station episode where he is cornered. Meena is neat as Venky’s wife and ably gives an emotional performance.
Kruthi is just about okay but the cop played by Sampath Raj is very good. His screen presence and dialogue delivery are very good. Nadia is also superb and keeps the suspense factor intact. Naresh was also well handled.
Analysis
Drishyam 2 starts where the first part is ended. The makers explain things in a very slow but neat manner. There are neat family scenes and how Ram Babu has progressed in life is showcased.
All this is good but is a bit slow in pace. But once the interval twist is brought in, the audience gets shocked a bit. From there, the film does not disappoint one bit. There is drama, emotion and a lot of thrills are brought in.
The second part is more of Ram Babu and how he will escape the deadly case. So, in all this, the emotional part is a bit dull and does not draw you much. The technical aspects like the BGM and other screenplay and editing are perfect.
Drishyam 2 is a well-made film and has its low shares but all of them are covered in the second half as the film is narrated in a gripping manner by director Jeetu Joseph.
Bottom Line – Clever thriller
