Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have been friends for a long time. They often talk about their strong bond. But not many know how this friendship started.
Kamal Haasan shared how he first met Rajinikanth while promoting his film, Vikram. He also spoke about their ability to disagree without affecting their friendship. When asked about his bond with Rajinikanth, Kamal remembered their first meeting on the sets of Agni Sakshi.
Kamal recalled, “I was the lead actor in a film directed by K. Balachander. There was a small role in the film, played by someone named Shivaji Rao from Bangalore. We greeted each other a few times.”
Kamal then mentioned his late friend, Govindharajan, who died of cancer. His friendship with Rajinikanth is closely connected to Govindharajan.
“One day, my friend Govindharajan visited the sets while Rajinikanth was shooting. Govindharajan saw Rajinikanth and said, ‘I like that man, he has style. What role is he playing?’” Kamal said. Unfortunately, Kamal couldn’t tell his friend that Rajinikanth’s character was dying of cancer.
Kamal also mentioned that his makeup artist, who knew Govindharajan well, made Rajinikanth look just like him. Kamal said, “Maybe I saw my friend in Rajinikanth.”
Kamal Haasan’s Upcoming Projects
Kamal Haasan is busy with several exciting projects. He is preparing for the release of his film, Indian 2, set to come out on July 12, 2024. This movie is the sequel to the 1996 hit Indian. In Indian 2, Kamal plays Senapathy, a former freedom fighter who fights against corruption.
Besides Indian 2, Kamal will also appear in Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life. Currently, the team is filming a big action scene at Pondicherry airport. Kamal, along with Silambarasan TR and Ashok Selvan, has joined the schedule. However, the makers or actors have not officially confirmed this.
