Director reveals Samantha’s struggles during Citadel shoot
In a recent interview, co-director Raj shared surprising insights about Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s health struggles during the filming of Citadel: Honey Bunny. The series, directed by Raj & DK, is slated for release on Amazon Prime on November 7 and stars Samantha alongside Varun Dhawan. While filming, Samantha faced severe challenges due to an autoimmune condition known as Myositis, which affected her health, although the crew was unaware of it at first.
Raj explained that there were multiple occasions when the team would wait for Samantha to arrive on set, only to learn later that she had fainted or blacked out. Despite these difficult circumstances, Samantha managed to give powerful performances. Varun Dhawan also commended her for the dedication she displayed, working hard even as she battled her illness.
This project marks the second collaboration between Samantha and the director duo Raj & DK, following their work on Family Man 2, where Samantha portrayed a strong antagonist. At a press event, Samantha spoke openly about her Myositis diagnosis, admitting that there were times she wanted to withdraw from the project. She humorously added that the directors didn’t let her step away or visit the hospital, reflecting her determination to see the project through.
In Citadel: Honey Bunny, a spin-off of the American series Citadel, Samantha and Varun take on the roles of spy agents heightening anticipation for the series’ release.
