Mohanlal is widely regarded as one of the finest actors in Indian cinema, having appeared in over 350 films. Known for his powerful performances and roles in groundbreaking films, he has garnered a massive following among fans and cinema enthusiasts alike.
Interestingly, Mohanlal was offered the role of the antagonist in Rajinikanth’s blockbuster film “Sivaji: The Boss” but declined the opportunity. Here’s why.
In a nostalgic look back, it’s revealed that the role of Adiseshan, the main antagonist in “Sivaji: The Boss,” was initially offered to Mohanlal. He had detailed discussions with the film’s director, Shankar Shanmugam, about the script. However, Mohanlal had to turn down the role due to scheduling conflicts. Shankar needed a significant number of dates from Mohanlal over an entire year, which clashed with his commitments to other Malayalam projects.
In one of the recent interactive sessions, Mohanlal confirmed this, saying, “Yes, Shankar met me and narrated the storyline. It was a negative character I found quite interesting, but they wanted many days from me spread over an entire year. It meant letting go of many of my Malayalam projects which I didn’t want to.” He added, “I want the good relationship I have in Kerala and Tamil Nadu to stay that way. It was a good villain’s role though.”
