Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t done a movie since Zero, but that doesn’t stop his fans from celebrating his work. August 8 marks a special day for SRK fans as it marks 7 years of release of their 2013 release action comedy Chennai Express which also featured Deepika Padukone in the lead. The movie marked SRK’s second film with Deepika after Om Shaanti Om and the film was a superhit and a critically acclaimed film as well.

As the fans continue to cherish SRK-Deepika’s smashing hit film, did you know the Piku actress wasn’t the first choice for the role of Meenamma in the film? Yes! You read it right. According to media reports, Rohit wanted to sign Kareena Kapoor Khan for the lead role Chennai Express. While Rohit did approach Bebo for the same, she couldn’t sign the film as she was working on Talaash with Aamir Khan.
“Rohit really wanted me in Chennai Express but I was busy doing Talaash. So, I am fine with that,” Kareena was quoted saying. Well, we are glad both the movies worked out for the respective actresses.
On the work front for Deepika, she will soon be seen in the Indian adaptation of The Intern. She will also star in a film with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Batra. She has a film with Shakun Batra and one untitled film with Southern superstar, Prabhas.
