A new biopic on the renowned Tamil music composer, Ilaiyaraaja, has been officially launched in Chennai today. The movie, titled Ilaiyaraaja, features popular actor Dhanush portraying the role of the music legend. The unveiling of the film’s first look poster has created quite a buzz among fans.
Expressing his gratitude, Dhanush took to his social media to share his feelings about playing Ilaiyaraaja on screen. He described it as an honor and revealed that it was a long-held desire of his to portray the music maestro in a film. For Dhanush, being a part of this project is a dream come true, as he admires Ilaiyaraaja’s music immensely.
During the launch event, Dhanush shared his deep reverence for Ilaiyaraaja’s musical genius. “I’m a big fan of Ilaiyaraaja sir. His music is like a friend to me. I think this is true for everyone. But for me, his music is also like a teacher for my acting. Since I was young and didn’t even know what acting was, I’ve been listening to his songs or background music before filming a scene. The mood of his music helps me understand how to act in that scene. I listen to his music and then I act in the scene. Sometimes Director Vetrimaaran has seen me doing this. People say it’s a big challenge to play this character, but I don’t feel that way. His music teaches me how to act like him. When I started out, I told Ilaiyaraaja sir, ‘You lead, I’ll follow.’ He asked me, ‘Am I your guide?’ I said, ‘Yes, sir, you’ve been guiding me all these years. I’ve been following you.'” – Dhanush said at the launch event of the Ilaiyaraaja biopic.
