Filmmaker Mysskin, who had helmed Vishal-starrer Detective in the past, enjoys immense fan following for his dark, brooding films that are multi-layered and filled with unique visual references. While the director was halfway through the shoot of the sequel to Detective, creative differences emerged between Vishal and Mysskin that turned into an ugly spat in the public space, owing to which the director had left the film. Vishal had subsequently taken over the reins as a director for that film whose shoot was halted during the lockdown.
Mysskin, moving on from that bitter experience, has now announced a sequel to another successful film of his, Pisasu a.k.a Pisachi, starring Andrea Jeremiah in the lead role. Rockfort Entertainment is producing the film that will also feature Psycho-fame actor Rajkumar Pitchumani in a pivotal part. Andrea had previously collaborated with the filmmaker for Detective and was cast in a negative role.
Surprisingly enough, Ilaiyaraja’s son Karthik Raja has been chosen as the music composer for Pisasu 2. The shooting is set to begin in November, the press release claims. Pisasu 2 will be shot in Tamil and very likely have a Telugu dubbed release.
Pisasu was a film that was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, for its unique take on the idea of ghosts, which had the likes of Naga, Prayaga Martin and Radha Ravi essaying key characters. It’ll be very interesting to see how the successor to the film pans out.
