A Delhi Court has remanded Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody until March 23 in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy scam. The decision was made by Special Judge MK Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Courts after Kavitha was brought before the court following her arrest by the ED on Friday.

Kavitha, who is a prominent figure and the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister KCR, vehemently denied all allegations against her, labeling her arrest in the liquor policy scam case as ‘illegal’ and ‘fabricated.’

The ED arrested Kavitha after conducting a raid at her residence in Hyderabad and subsequently brought her to New Delhi for interrogation. The agency sought a 10-day remand for Kavitha, asserting the necessity for custodial interrogation in the money laundering probe.

During the remand hearing, the Enforcement Directorate revealed that Kavitha had formatted four out of ten of her devices immediately after receiving the first summons from the agency in the Liquor policy case. This conduct raised suspicions about her intentions.

Furthermore, the probe agency accused Kavitha and her party workers of non-cooperation during the investigation and causing disruptions on multiple occasions.

In response to these developments, Kavitha’s brother KTR engaged in a heated exchange with ED officials, which was captured in a viral video on social media. Meanwhile, protests erupted at the Jubilee Hills Bus stand in Hyderabad by BRS workers against Kavitha’s arrest.

The timing of Kavitha’s arrest, just before the Election Commission’s announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule, could potentially impact the morale of party workers, according to senior BRS leaders.

Kavitha’s stance on the matter remains firm, as she had previously stated her readiness to cooperate with any inquiry. However, the unfolding events have cast a shadow over her political career and the future of the BRS party. As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how it will impact the political landscape in Telangana and beyond.
