Naga Chaitanya’s Custody Review
Plot
Shiva(Naga Chaitanya) is a sincere police constable who has issues with love marriage in regard to his girlfriend(Krithi Shetty). This is also the time when a dreaded criminal Raju(Arvind Swamy) creates havoc. He is being chased by a gang and the situation is such that Shiva has to save Raju from them and present him in the court of law. Well, how does he do that is the story of Custody?
Performances
Naga Chaitanya plays the police constable for the first time in his life and he is amazing in the film. The manner in which he embraces the cop role and does not overact is the best part. With each film of his, Chay is only improving. Krithi Shetty looks out of form and her role is also not that great. Arvind Swamy was great in his role and he steals the limelight in many scenes.
What’s Good
Chay’s performance
A few thrills
What’s Bad
Slow start
Dull Narrative
Boring scenes
Analysis
Venkat Prabhu is known to make thrillers in his career and gave a super hit in the form of Maanadu. He has teamed up with Chay Akkineni for Custody and has showcased him quite well. But his narrative falters and there is no depth in the proceedings. The first half only gives focus on the love story of Chay and Krithi and does not create any magic.
When the second part starts, there are a few scenes that click but as a whole, the narrative lacks the juice. The film is set in the 90s and has a few neat scenes related to the time zone. But the main conflict point between the hero and the villain is not that great. The manner in which Arvind Swamy is used in the narrative is also not that great.
Music and BGM are a big disappointment. Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja disappoint big time as their music does not elevate the film one bit. The climax looks rushed. But the visuals and camerawork are quite good. But there is a feeling of boredom when you watch the film as there is nothing exciting going it’s way except for the performance of Chay Akkineni.
Bottom Line – Dull and Boring action drama
