The number of Coronavirus cases in the US have exceeded beyond 5,54,000, While the toll tally remained at 21,,994 , as on 5am on Monday (IST), as per the data from the Johns Hopkins University.
Meanwhile, the maximum COVID-19 cases were recorded 189,020 in New York, with a death toll of 9,385. New Jersey reported 61,850 cases and 2,350 fatalities. Michigan, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, Illinois and Louisiana have each reported over 20,000 cases, according to the tally.
Texas extends disaster declaration
With the pandemic spreading its claws, Texas Governor Greg Abbott extended the disaster declaration for 30 days. “By extending my Disaster Declaration, we are ensuring the state of Texas continues to have adequate resources and capabilities to support our communities and protect public health,” Abbott said on Sunday.
“I urge all Texans to continue practicing social distancing and abide by the guidelines laid out by the CDC and my Executive Orders to slow the spread of COVID-19,” he added.
