Indian 2 controversy: Kamal Haasan’s latest film Indian 2 directed by S. Shankar faces challenges both on and off the screen. The film which hit theaters on July 12 has drawn criticism for its unnecessarily long runtime prompting the filmmakers to trim 12 minutes from its original three-hour length. Despite these edits, the movie has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
A significant issue arose when members of the E-Sewa Association demanded the removal of a particular scene from the film. The controversial scene depicts E-Sewa employees accepting bribes from citizens in exchange for services. This portrayal has sparked outrage among the E-Sewa staff who argue that it unfairly paints them as corrupt.

The E-Sewa association has lodged a formal complaint against the filmmakers insisting that their employees do not engage in such corrupt activities. They believe that the film should focus on exposing larger players in the world of corruption rather than targeting them. The association has also called on the Tamil Nadu government to intervene and address their concerns.
More About Indian 2
“Indian 2” marks the return of Kamal Haasan’s iconic character Senapathy after nearly three decades. The film’s anticipation was heightened by Anirudh Ravichander’s involvement as the composer replacing AR Rahman and its impressive ensemble cast. The movie was praised for Haasan’s powerful performance, Anirudh’s background score, lavish production design, and sophisticated look and feel. However, the screenplay has been criticized for being overly long and unengaging.
Due to the predominantly negative feedback, “Indian 2” has struggled at the box office, earning only 65 crores in its first five days across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions. This disappointing performance raises concerns that the film may be unable to recover its substantial production costs.
