Controversy erupts over Dil Raju’s sankranthi comments
The recent comments made by producer Dil Raju about the Sankranthi festival have stirred strong reactions in Telangana. At the pre-release event of Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam in Nizamabad, Dil Raju remarked that the festival lacks the vibrancy in Telangana compared to Andhra Pradesh, associating Telangana’s celebrations with “white toddy and mutton meat.”
These remarks have triggered widespread criticism, particularly from Telangana cultural advocates and leaders. BRS party MLC Deshapati Srinivas strongly condemned Dil Raju’s statement. He said, “If there is no vibe in Telangana, stop making films here. If you want vibe, open a toddy compound or a meat shop.” Srinivas accused the producer of disrespecting Telangana culture and demanded accountability from the state government for granting special permissions to the film Game Changer.
