The COVID uncertainly has made many films to shift to OTT platforms for digital release. In fact, a day back Disney Plus Hotstar announced the digital release of seven Bollywood films including Laxmmi Bomb, Sadak 2, Dil Bechara, Bhuj: The Pride of India, The Big Bull, Khuda Haafiz and Lootcase. The trend started after Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Gulabo Sitobo got streamlined digitally. The move also caused rift between theater owners and the makers, where the former expressed their disappointment. However, here come good news for the theter owners as two big-ticket films have been confirmed for theatrical release.
Confirming the same, trade and film analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news on social media. He shared, “BIGGG DEVELOPMENT… #Sooryavanshi and #83TheFilm to release in *theatres* first… Plans to release #Sooryavanshi in #Diwali and #83TheFilm in #Christmas *IN CINEMAS*.”
The same was also informed by Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar, “Yes, both Sooryavanshi and 83 are confirmed for Diwali and Christmas, respectively. We are committed to bring both Sooryavanshi and 83 in theaters whenever the exhibitors are open and whenever the audiences feel safe and comfortable to come back to cinemas. We feel and we hope that by Diwali and Christmas, the situation will be normal.”
