In Tirupati, where the Balaja votes hold significant sway, the Janasena party (JSP) finds itself in a challenging position regarding the selection of its candidate for the upcoming General Elections. Initially, the candidacy of Arani Srinivas faced opposition from leaders within coalition parties, triggering a reassessment by Janasena leadership.
In response to this opposition, alternative candidates such as former MLA Sugunamma, gate college correspondent Tammineni Venkateshwarlu, and Ooka Vijayakumar have been suggested. Janasena’s general secretary, Nagababu, has taken steps to address the situation by engaging in discussions with Tirupati leaders.
The main point of contention surrounding Arani Srinivas’s candidacy is his non-local status. Leaders from Janasena and TDP, along with BJP allies, have expressed reservations about his suitability, stressing the importance of selecting local candidates for better electoral prospects.
In light of these concerns, Janasena leadership is considering revising its candidate selection process. It is reported that IVRS surveys will be conducted soon to gauge public opinion and preferences among potential aspirants. This move indicates a willingness on the part of Janasena to address the discontent and ensure that the chosen candidate resonates with the local population.
The situation in Tirupati underscores the significance of local representation and the complexities involved in candidate selection, particularly in politically sensitive regions. By being responsive to feedback and actively seeking input from the public, Janasena aims to navigate these challenges effectively and strengthen its electoral prospects in Tirupati.
