A student from the University of Hyderabad recently complained about singer Chinmayi Sripada, alleging that she made derogatory comments about India in response to senior actress Annapurna. The student, Kumar Sagar, filed a complaint with the Gachibowli police, expressing concern about negative remarks on the country.
Chinmayi’s video on Instagram reportedly highlighted the challenges women in India face, such as limited access to toilets and the judgment some face for their clothing choices. She expressed disappointment for young women living in 2024. However, Sagar believes that speaking negatively about India is not the right approach and filed a complaint, though the police are yet to register a case.
In a separate incident, the Cyberabad cybercrime police arrested three individuals involved in an online fraud promising a dealership for a well-known conglomerate. Dheeraj Kumar, operating from Bihar, maintained a fake website resembling the corporate entity. Ankit Kumar and Gaurav Kumar were identified as his associates, while Vikas, Raja, Abhishek, and Suraj acted as telecallers.
The modus operandi involved luring a city resident into applying for the dealership. The fraudsters, posing as company employees, sent fake details and registration forms via email and WhatsApp, demanding various fees. The victim paid Rs.7.5 lakh before realizing the deception. The cybercrime police successfully apprehended the culprits, emphasizing the importance of vigilance against online fraud.
