The film Saare Jahaan Se Achcha with Farhan Akthar will go to the sets soon. It will have Farhaan playing an astronaut and reprising Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma. It has been titled Saare Jahaan Se Achcha because when asked by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, on a television news conference as to how India looks from outer space? He replied by saying, ‘Saare jahaan se achcha.’
The film was initially offered to Aamir Khan and he was damn excited about it. However he shifted his focus on his magnum opus Mahabharata and decided to leave the film. Then the film went in Shah Rukh Khan’s lap, who too decided to quit the film after the lukewarm response his film Zero received. Later names like Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor were floating around related to this project. But it looks like the makers have finally found their lead. Indian Air Force pilot Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian citizen to travel in space on April 3, 1984. After finishing his current commitments, Farhan is expected to jump into the prep, which includes body transformation, physical training and understanding the nuances of an astronaut.
