At least four individuals suffered minor injuries in an explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Brookefield area. The injured included three staff members and one customer, all of whom are reported to be out of danger, according to officials.
The incident occurred around 1 pm when an object inside a bag exploded, emitting black smoke in and around the cafe. Forensic teams are currently investigating the materials collected at the blast site to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that initial assessments ruled out a cylinder blast, and the source of the explosion would be confirmed after forensic analysis. The injured individuals have been taken to a nearby hospital, and they are reportedly in stable condition.
Images from the scene depict the presence of police, fire officials, and forensic teams. A bomb disposal squad is also on-site, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to understand the events leading up to the blast. The area has been cordoned off as the investigation continues.
“We got a call regarding an explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe, suggesting a possible cylinder blast. A fire engine was quickly sent to the scene. While there are initial suspicions of a cylinder blast, we are currently confirming the details. Fortunately, it’s a minor explosion, and the injured have been taken to the hospital. The incident happened between 1:30 and 2 pm. We are thoroughly investigating the situation from all perspectives,” explained the police to PTI.
