Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar will soon share screen space together. The duo that was seen in Shree Narayan Singh’s Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, is coming together for filmmaker Aanand L Rai and his upcoming directorial titled Raksha Bandhan. Kumar even took to social media to share the announcement and welcome Pednekar on board with a pretty happy picture. Sharing the same, the actress wrote, “A very special film & a very special reunion. Am supremely excited to be collaborating again with two of my favourite creative powerhouses & humans. Am full of gratitude to be a part of this special, heart-touching story #RakshaBandhan.”
The film is written by Himanshu Sharma and produced by Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape Of Good Films. Presented by AlkaHiranandani and Aanand L Rai. Obviously, Raksha Bandhan isn’t the only Rai and Kumar collaboration on the cards. The director-actor duo also have Atrangi Re which also stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. The film which was supposed to come out this Valentine’s day and obviously didn’t is produced by T-Series, Color Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films with music by A.R. Rahman.
Akshay Kumar had earlier dedicated the film to his sister Alka as the film revolves around the bond between brothers and sisters. And it will be interesting to see the actors recreate the magic like they did earlier. It is being reported that the film is all set to go on floors this June. The director said, “We are hoping to start by June 15. By then cases may come down and the situation should become more conducive for us to work with the unit.” “The crew will remain at one place but the actors will go back home. Besides, we normally isolate ourselves from the family while shooting and that is the same way we shot for Atrangi Re and all of us are responsible enough to follow Covid appropriate behaviour,” he added.
