Bhuj- The Pride of India was promoted in a big way and it is now out on Disney Hotstar. Read our review to find out if the has any juice in it or not.
Plot
The film is set in the year 1971. Pakistan army attacks the Bhuj airways to teach India a lesson as they have been supporting the Bangla-speaking Muslims in Pakistan. The Pakistani army surprise the Indian army with a sudden attack as commander Vijay Karnik(Ajay Devgan) and his men are left with no help. How do they face this deadly situation is the basic story of the film.
Performances
Ajay Devgan plays the sheet anchor’s role in the film. The war drama makes sense when Ajay Devgan is on screen. But when he is not there, every actor looks dull and sleepy. Sanjay Dutt is playing a spy and he does not know what he is doing other than killing people. It is hard to understand why Sonakshi and Pranitha Subash even accepted the film. They look so out of the place. All the supporting actors are so dull and look like junior artists.
Analysis
The film is heavy on VFX and the best shots in the film have been showcased in the teaser itself. The rest of the VFX is so tacky and does not impress one bit. There is no proper connection to the story and the so-called hit song Zaalima by Norah Fatehi is also missing in the film much to the dismay of the audience.
The so-called enemy looks weak and the cast chosen does not elevate the issue one bit. One of the basic points in which the film falls flat is that there is absolutely no patriotic flavor in the film. Every slogan and action blocks look fake.
By seeing the film, one can understand that Ajay Devgan saw the film and clearly made out that this film would crash at the box office and cleverly sold it for OTT. There is no drama, no emotion, and no patriotic feel in this film, and is a big letdown. Don’t even waste your time watching it.
Bottom Line – Waste of time and energy
