Netflix has acquired the rights to The New York Times bestselling novel The Noel Diary by Richard Paul Evans and will adapt it into a feature film. The film will be directed by Academy Award Nominee Charles Shyer, who’s helmed projects like Alfie, Father of the Bride in the past. The film is being adapted by the writer trio comprising Charles Shyer (The Parent Trap, Private Benjamin), Rebecca Connor, David Golden (Dangerous Lies).
The story revolves around a bestselling author Jacob Turner. When he returns home at Christmas to settle his estranged mother’s estate, he discovers a diary that may hold secrets to his own past and that of Rachel – a beautiful young woman on a mysterious journey of her own. Together, they embark on an adventure to confront their pasts and discover a future that’s totally unexpected.
The Noel Diary’s film adaptation stars This is Us-fame actor Justin Hartley, Bonnie Bedelia and Treat Williams in lead roles. Timothy O. Johnson, Margret Huddleston, Stephanie Slack are producing the film.
