Balayya selects Mahashivaratri to make Taraka Ratna rest in peace. It is believed in Hinduism that if a person dies on the auspicious festival days, he would inevitably achieve moksha or the higher realms of consciousness.
And this is what seems to have happened in Taraka Ratna’s case. Nandamuri Balakrishna is a staunch believer in astrology and spiritual texts. Ever since Taraka Ratna got admitted to the hospital, Balayya was behind the scene taking proper care of him. He would perform puja wishing Taraka Ratna to recover. He also performed yagam for the revival of Taraka Ratna’s health.
Balayya saw no signs of recovery in Taraka Ratna’s health. At this point, doctors usually tell family members whether to stop treatment if the patient is not responding. So the same thing happened to Taraka Ratna.
Balayya selected Mahasivaratri for withdrawal of medical support to Taraka Ratna so that his soul rests in peace and reaches the creator Lord Shiva.
