Avika Gor famous for her role as Anandi in the TV show Balika Vadhu entered the Tollywood film industry with her debut in Uyyala Jampala in 2013. She has since appeared in various films and TV shows. Recently Avika opened up about a troubling experience of being sexually harassed by her bodyguard.
In an interview, Avika Gor recounted an incident where a bodyguard inappropriately touched her as she was heading to the stage at an event in Kazakhstan. The experience left her shocked. Reflecting on the event, she mentioned feeling someone touch her from behind. When she turned around, she saw it was her bodyguard. This wasn’t an isolated incident; it almost happened again, but she stopped it by grabbing his hand.
Avika recounted, “I remember feeling someone touch me from behind. When I turned around only the security guard was there. As I was going on stage someone tried to touch me again. When I turned back I saw it was the same guard. I stopped it before it could happen again.”
She expressed her feelings, saying, “It is shameful… I confronted him and he just apologized. I didn’t know what to do next, so I let it go. They don’t understand the impact their actions have on others.” Avika mentioned that she now knows how to handle such situations better. “If I had the courage then to react strongly I would have confronted many more people by now. I believe I can do it now but I hope it never comes to that,” she added.
Avika has also been a part of several Bollywood films including Paathshala, Tezz, Kahani Rubberband Ki, and 1920: Horrors of the Heart. Her upcoming film is Bloody Ishq which she announced wrapping up in February.
