BJP stalwart and former finance minister Arun Jaitley passed away today, August 24, at the AIIMS. The veteran politician aged 66. The BJP government is in deep shock over Jaitley’s demise as it has come close in the heels of the death of Sushma Swaraj.
The AIIMS doctors issued a statement on Jaitley’s death which reads, “It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and former Finance Minister Government of India at 12:07 pm on August 24, 2019. Arun Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi on 09/08/2019 and was treated by a multidisciplinary team of senior Doctors.”

Over the last two years, Jaitley was battling with ill health. In 2018, he underwent a kidney transplant surgery. In 2014, he underwent a bariatric surgery to address the excess weight he had gained due to diabetes.
