Are Chiranjeevi and Jr.NTR set for a major face-off
Sankranti 2025 ended with Sankranthiki Vasthunnam emerging as the biggest blockbuster, earning over ₹250 crores worldwide. However, Tollywood is already focusing on Sankranti 2026 as it remains the most profitable season for Telugu films.
NTR’s upcoming film with director Prashanth Neel has been scheduled for release on January 9, 2026. Now, Chiranjeevi’s new project with Anil Ravipudi has also been confirmed as a Sankranti release by producer Sahu Garapati. This sets the stage for an exciting box office battle.
Anil Ravipudi has a history of Sankranti hits, including his latest success this year. His film F2 was also a huge hit during Sankranti 2019, making the festival lucky for him. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi has not had a Sankranti release since 2023. His film Vishwambhara was initially planned for this year but got postponed. However, the makers seem determined to release his next movie on time in 2026.
The real question is whether NTR’s movie will be completed in time. Prashanth Neel’s films are known for their large scale and extensive production time. Given the required effort and NTR’s schedule, a one-year timeline may not be sufficient.
Meanwhile, Anil Ravipudi can complete his project within five months, making Chiranjeevi’s film a guaranteed Sankranti release. However, there are still doubts about whether NTR’s action-packed film will be ready in time.
With these factors in play, the chances of a much-anticipated Sankranti clash between Chiranjeevi and NTR remain uncertain, standing at 50-50. If both films do release as planned, it will be one of the biggest box office battles in recent years.
