AP government’s initiative brings relief to small temples

Andhra Pradesh cabinet minister Nara Lokesh embarked on the Yuva Galam Pada Yatra, a 3132-kilometer journey, ahead of the state assembly elections. During this journey, Lokesh made numerous promises to the people. The alliance of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena, and BJP secured a significant victory in the elections, forming the state government. Following the election, Lokesh has focused on fulfilling the commitments made during the Yatra.

One of the recent promises fulfilled is the increase in financial aid for “Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyalu” – the offering of incense, lamps, and prasad in temples. The state government raised the aid from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 10,000, benefiting around 5400 small temples across Andhra Pradesh. This initiative aims to support temples in remote areas that struggle with income generation and ritual maintenance.

During the Yuva Galam Pada Yatra, Lokesh was approached by Brahmins who highlighted the difficulties faced by small temples in performing daily rituals due to financial constraints. In response, Lokesh committed to increasing the aid, which he has now delivered on. He expressed his commitment to ensuring that these temples can carry out their religious duties without hindrance. Lokesh emphasized that his government is dedicated to the welfare of all sections of society and is actively working to fulfill its promises.

This step is one among several actions taken by Lokesh to honor his word to the public. His active engagement on social media keeps the public informed of the government’s initiatives. Lokesh’s efforts reflect his focus on quick solutions and maintaining transparency in governance.

The state government’s increased support to temples is expected to bring relief to many, ensuring the smooth continuation of religious activities in smaller, income-strapped temples. Lokesh’s work aligns with his broader commitment to addressing issues brought up by the public during his journey.
