The upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh are anticipated to be a fierce battleground, with YSRCP’s Jagan Mohan Reddy facing opposition from Chandra Babu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. Despite having a majority of MLAs, Jagan seems uneasy about securing all three Rajya Sabha seats.
TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao suggests that Jagan is worried about potential dissent within his party, fearing that 50 of his own MLAs may vote against his candidates for the Rajya Sabha seats.
Such a scenario could be a significant blow to Jagan, causing embarrassment before the assembly elections. Ganta Srinivasa Rao also points out that even though Jagan holds the position of Chief Minister, he appears apprehensive about the outcome of the Rajya Sabha polls.
To address these concerns, the YSRCP is reportedly planning of corrective measures. There are plans to suspend MLAs who originally won on the YCP ticket but have since aligned with other parties. This strategic move aims to ensure party loyalty and minimize the risk of internal opposition during the crucial Rajya Sabha elections.
As the stage is set for this political showdown, the date of the Rajya Sabha polls is yet to be confirmed.
