Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Naryana Swamy landed in soup after his controversial remarks on Markaz event held at Delhi Nizamuddin. He said that Coronavirus cases have spread in the state had Tablighi Jamaat members hadn’t attended the event. He also added they don’t maintain hygiene and cleanliness. However, realising the gaffe done, the minister soon tendered apology.
“I have nothing against Muslim minorities. They can pray to their god. Allah is benevolent. But they do all sorts of dirty things, do not follow hygiene in eating and do not even maintain cleanliness. Because of their habits, they brought the Corona disease to this level,” he said. Incidentally, Narayan Swamy’s comments week after YS Jaganmohan Reddy asked not to stereotype COVID-19 from religion angle. “We should not discriminate people as it happened that way and was not premeditated. We have to put up a united fight like Indians, giving no room to any caste or religion,” Jagan had said.
