Director Anudeep made a nice, light hearted entertainer titled Pitta Goda a few years back. The director showed promise and now after a few years he is back and has finished directing his second film. “I was taking a lot of time deciding what kind of cinema I should be doing. I was writing a few scripts and did not know which one to pitch to the producers. Some had budget issues and also we needed perfect casting for the subject.”
Once his stories were ready, he met Nag Ashwin, director of Mahanati. He narrated all of them and Nag Ashwin picked a particular story which has been titled Jathi Ratnalu. This happened two years back. Nag Ashwin too gave his inputs to the script, story or structure. Anudeep wrote the dialogues which is his forte. He further says, “Pitta Goda was a friendship tale and this one is a crime comedy. It isn’t dark as you think, it will be an out and out comedy story but you will have crime in it. I wanted to make it in a small budget but once Nag Ashwin stepped in and sensed its potential and roped in Naveen Polisetty, Rahul Ramakrishna, Priyadarshi. Faria, a newcomer is the heroine.”

It took a lot of time to wind up the shoot because Naveen was doing Chichore, Rahul was n RRR and Priyadarshi had his movies. The shooting took a year but the other year, they spent time giving the script all it needed. Cinematography is by Siddam Manohar (operative cameraman for Mahanati) and music is by Radan. The writing is hilarious, art by Chandrika and Ali is realistic. Anudeep wants to direct a love story next.
