Annapoorani: FIR filed against Nayanthara’s 75th film

The film ‘Annapoorani’, starring Nayanthara and Jai, has encountered legal trouble in Mumbai. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the movie for allegedly promoting ‘Love Jihad’ and hurting religious sentiments. This issue arose due to an alleged controversial comment about Lord Ram in the film. Some people were upset about a comment in the movie that they thought was controversial and related to Lord Ram.

Directed by Nilesh Krishnaa, ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ is currently available for streaming on Netflix. Ramesh Solanki, a man from Mumbai, took offense to the content and issued a statement while also filing a police complaint. He accused the movie of endorsing ‘Love Jihad’ and causing offense to ‘Hindu sentiments’.

The FIR names several individuals including Nayanthara, Jai, Nilesh, producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, Punit Goenka, Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel, and Netflix India’s head Monika Shergill.

‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ showcases Nayanthara as an aspiring chef participating in the reality show ‘India’s Best Chef’, despite her mother’s warnings. The film, jointly produced by Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran, also stars Jai, Sathyaraj, Redin Kingsley, Suresh Chakravarthy, Renuka, and KS Ravikumar. Thaman S has composed the music while Sathyan Sooryan worked as the cinematographer.

Nayanthara underwent training from a professional chef for her role in ‘Annapoorani’, marking her reunion with Jai since their collaboration in the 2013 film ‘Raja Rani’.

The situation surrounding the film’s alleged depiction and its impact continues to unfold, sparking discussions about creative expression, sensitivity, and societal implications in film storytelling.
