The highly intense movie Animal, centered around the strong bond between a father and son through violent means, has been a huge success at the box office since its release on December 1. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Ranbir Kapoor, this action-packed drama has been breaking records in its first week.
On its sixth day in theaters, December 6, Animal earned Rs 30 crore net in India across five languages, reaching the milestone of crossing Rs 300 crore in India alone. The film had already grossed Rs 481 crore worldwide in its initial five days, surpassing the Rs 500 crore mark globally.
This movie, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, joins the ranks of the fourth Bollywood film to achieve such a feat, following Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan, and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. With no major releases until Dunki and Salaar on December 21 and December 22 respectively, Animal is expected to continue its strong performance and could become Ranbir Kapoor’s highest-grossing film.
Ranbir’s top-earning movie so far has been the 2018 biographical drama Sanju, where his exceptional portrayal of superstar Sanjay Dutt won him multiple awards. The film directed by Rajkumar Hirani earned Rs 342.57 crore net in India and Rs 588.50 crore worldwide.
Regarding Animal, besides Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Suresh Oberoi, and Shakti Kapoor in important roles. Audiences have had mixed reactions to the movie, with some praising its raw and authentic portrayal while others criticize it for its excessive violence and portrayal of toxic masculinity.
