Amaravati to become mega city with one lakh acres project

The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to expand Amaravati capital city to 1,00,000 acres. At present, Amaravati has around 53,000 acres including land pooled from farmers and government land. The government now plans to collect an additional 44,676 acres under the land pooling scheme.

Government Plans for Land Pooling

Between 2014 and 2019, the government collected 34,000 acres from 29 villages. These lands were used in the first phase of Amaravati construction. Now, for future development and capital expansion, the government has decided to acquire more land.

Targeted Areas for Land Pooling

Land pooling will be done in villages from Tulluru, Amaravati, Tadikonda and Mangalagiri mandals. Proposed lands include:

– 9,919 acres in Harichandrapuram, Vaddamanu and Pedaparimi villages (Tulluru mandal)
– 12,838 acres in Vaikunthapuram, Endroyi, Karlapudi, Mothadaka, Nidamukkala villages (Amaravati mandal)
– 16,463 acres in Tadikonda and Kantheru villages (Tadikonda mandal)
– 4,492 acres in Kaza village (Mangalagiri mandal)

Farmers Support Land Pooling

Most farmers are showing a positive response. They are willing to give land under pooling. In return, the government offers returnable plots. CRDA is planning to release notification in a few days. Since the area lies between Vijayawada and Guntur, rapid urbanization is expected. Many farmers believe giving land is beneficial in the long run.

Land Pooling in Phases

The government will start pooling in villages where most farmers have already agreed. Notifications will be released in phases. Some farmers have submitted requests directly to municipal minister Narayana asking their lands to be included in the pooling process.

Only 2,000 Acres Left with CRDA

CRDA now has only 2,000 acres of unallocated land. Many departments are requesting land for development. The government has estimated that 4,000 acres are needed for an international airport in Amaravati.

Amaravati Airport and Future Projects

Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation has started the tender process to prepare a feasibility report for the airport. The proposed plan includes airport operations, repair facilities, training centers and more.

Amaravati lies between the Krishna River and the Grand Trunk Road. With new land pooling, the capital area will reach one lakh acres. Amaravati construction began in December 2014 with the vision of a global city built through farmer partnership.
