The highly anticipated social drama, “OMG 2,” featuring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam, is set to make its Netflix debut on October 8. Initially, it was announced that the film would stream on JioCinema following its theatrical run.
Expressing his excitement about “OMG 2” arriving on Netflix, Akshay Kumar remarked, “We are thrilled by the enthusiastic reception OMG 2 has received in theaters! This story deserves to travel far and beyond borders, and we are confident that with Netflix, we will be able to take the film to entertainment lovers around the world.” He added, “I hope that our labor of love continues to spread joy.”
Despite a box office clash with the mega blockbuster “Gadar 2,” “OMG 2” enjoyed a successful run and elicited mixed reactions from the audience.
The film follows the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, whose son Vivek faces allegations of immoral behavior, resulting in his expulsion from school. A spiritual intervention prompts him to seek justice as Kanti prepares to leave town. Destiny brings those responsible for the crime to court, and justice ultimately prevails.
During an interaction with media, when asked about Akshay Kumar’s role in revitalizing the box office with “OMG 2,” filmmaker Amit Rai attributed the film’s success to the entire team. He emphasized that each individual involved, including the actors, made unique contributions to the project.
While Akshay Kumar undeniably played a significant role in the film’s success, Amit acknowledged that it was a collaborative effort and a collective achievement. He also highlighted how performers like Akshay Kumar bring “color and life” to the story, noting that while a script can be written, it is the actors who breathe life into the narrative and make it relatable to the audience.
