Forbes is back with top 100 actors who have made it to world’s highest paid celebrities list. The only Indian actor who has managed to find a spot is none other than Bollywood hunk -Akshay Kumar. With a whopping pre-tax earnings of USD 48.5 million (Rs 366 crore nearly) from June 2019 to May 2020 have put Akshay at 52nd spot, unlike last year where he was placed at 33.
In fact, for Akshay to jump into the list is the deal inked with Amazon for series ‘The End.’ Bollywood Khiladi was payed an astronomical of USD 10 million (roughly Rs 75 crore). Not just this, his upcoming film Bell Bottom and Bachchan Pandey also increased his stakes where he was upfront nearly Rs 100 crores for the two movies.
Speaking about roping in Akshay for the digital series debut, Amazon’s VP of International Originals, James Farrell said, “It’s about what people want to see. If they want to see Akshay Kumar in a multiseason, action-thriller, who am I to say watch this instead? It may not be cheap but it’s worth it”.
