Actor Ajay Devgn was on a Saturday’s trends list after he announced the release date of sports drama, Maidaan. The film was supposed to hit the screens this year on December 11, but with unprecedented situation a new release date was announced, August 13 2021.“2021 Independence week. An untold story that will make every Indian proud. 13th August mark the date,” announced Devgn on his Instagram account.
Earlier, speaking about the film, Devgn had said, “Maidaan has been very moving and emotional journey” for him. “It is a fabulous story, director Amit Sharma has done a great job. Times have changed, storytelling has changed. There are no deliberate commercial elements added to a film today, be it a song or the romantic angle. Maidaan has been very moving and emotional journey for me”.
Directed by Directed by Amit Sharma, the film is inspired from Indian national football team coach and manager Syed Abdul Rahim. Charting the golden years of Indian football, under the leadership of Rahim, India had won gold at the 1962 Asian Games; he was also the man under whose guidance, the India team went to the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
