After KTR, legal heat turns towards KCR
The recent political developments in Telangana have captured widespread attention. Reports suggest that a case might soon be filed against former Chief Minister KCR concerning alleged irregularities in power purchases during the BRS regime. This follows allegations against BRS working president KTR in the Formula E scam.
On Monday, the Telangana government approved the Justice Madan B. Lokur Commission’s report. The report highlights several power sector irregularities, including decisions made during KCR’s tenure. Plans are reportedly underway to initiate legal proceedings against KCR, other BRS leaders, and officials implicated in this alleged scam.

The Revanth-led government intends to present the Lokur Commission’s findings in the ongoing assembly session. After discussions, legal action may be pursued. During a recent cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his colleagues reportedly debated both the power irregularities and the Formula E allegations against KTR.
The report accuses KCR of causing significant financial damage to the state’s power distribution companies (DISCOMs) over the past decade. Allegedly, officials refrained from opposing these decisions to remain in KCR’s favor. The construction of the Bhadradri Power Plant with outdated technology is highlighted as a major issue, resulting in a projected burden of ₹9,000 crore on Telangana residents over the next 25 years.
Additionally, the report points to a loss of ₹3,642 crore from power purchases made from Chhattisgarh. These factors are expected to be discussed extensively in the assembly before legal steps are taken against KCR.
The ongoing political turmoil suggests that both KCR and KTR might face legal consequences for these alleged scams. As Telangana awaits further developments, the cases continue to dominate headlines.
