Bollywood director Om Raut’s highly anticipated film, Adipurush, featuring Tollywood star Prabhas, was made on a massive budget of Rs. 500 crores. Unfortunately, upon its release last month, the movie failed to impress audiences and faced criticism for its controversial depiction of the Ramayanam in a modern adaptation.
The director, along with dialogue director Manoj Muntashir Shukla, attempted to address the backlash by stating that their work is a fictional interpretation and not a direct retelling of the Ramayan. However, Manoj faced even more criticism than the director himself due to his controversial dialogues and comments about Lord Hanuman.
Recently, Manoj issued a heartfelt apology, expressing his remorse for hurting people’s sentiments with his flawed work. He said, “With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.” Despite his admission of mistakes, some netizens continue to hold him accountable.
Adipurush, starring Prabhas and featuring Kriti Sanon as the female protagonist, is a mythological tale jointly produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. The film’s theatrical run concluded with significant losses, and many are now awaiting its release on an OTT platform.
