Andhra Pradesh has been rocked with protests for the past few weeks after chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy announced three-capitals for the state. This move was severely condemned by the Opposition TDP and Amaravati farmers who staged protest. Farmers and other villagers, who had given their lands for development of Amaravati as the state capital, took to the streets in 29 villages, demanding the government to drop its proposal to develop Visakhapatnam and Kurnool as two other state capitals.
Meanwhile, a latest leaked video of Jagan is doing the rounds on social media exposing his true intentions. Telugu actor Sivaji exposed Jagan about his motive behind shifting the capital. The video shows Jagan apparently speaking to his party cadre that after they shift the capital, it would increase their earning revenue sources.

Meanwhile, US firm Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) also endorsed Andhra Pradesh government’s proposal for three state capitals. The latest report by the world-renowned consultancy was submitted amid protests by farmers in Amaravati, demanding that it be developed as the only state capital. BCG stated in its report that in the absence of a starting point, greenfield cities require significant investment and have long gestation periods. The report noted that multi-billion dollar investments are required for a world-class city. Global benchmarks suggest that investments of $0.5-1 billion+ per 10,000 population are required and new cities take 30-60 years to reach that scale.
