Aakashavaani is a small film that has been promoted a lot by its makers. The film is out now and, read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.
Plot
The story is quite simple. Dora played by Vinay Varma holds the tribals of a small village without any connection to the outer world. But things change when the village is visited by a schoolmaster played by Samutrakani. How does he save the tribals from the world of Dora is the story of Aakashavaani.
Performances
Vijay Varma is getting good roles these days and he, as Dora, does a valiant job in the film. The grip on his voice and the screen presence has been showcased quite neatly. Samutrakani is not at his usual best. As he is doing things as per the director, he looks lost but still, he makes things work.
Analysis
What catches your imagination is the basic setup of the film which looks a bit novel. The endearing production values and camera work only enhance the visuals in the film.
The main characters do well but they do not have much support in the film. This is where the film goes for a toss. Scenes wise it looks good but the impact that is needed is missed somehow.
Films like these need to be told in a gripping manner but that does not happen here. The slow pace is the biggest villain and this bores the audience most of the time. Barring a few technical aspects and a unique theme, this film is just a so-so product from Ashwin Gangaraju.
Bottom Line – Concept okay but dull narration
