Trinadh Velisila from Vijayawada has finally made his debut as a director, his film Meka Suri was streamed on 31st July on Zee5. There are zillions of assistant directors and writers waiting for an opportunity for many years and Trinadh is grateful he got to direct a feature film. Despite having been here for nine years and has learnt to get a grip over his scripts and always focused on becoming a director. He got trained at Lakshmi Narasimha Entertainments which made Swami Rara, Okka Kshanam, Mosagalakki Mosagadu etc and did some ad films too.
Meka Suri is based on a real event that took place in Prakasam district, the idea of turning the incident into a film triggered when he saw a mad man loitering around in Singarayakonda. In a chat with Klapboardpost.com, Trinadh recollects, “I enquired about this man who was semi naked and looked strange. I heard his story from a few and picked five or six points from it to write my script. This happened three years back. The man is mad, he killed three and people in the village think he is really insane. Some think he isn’t, he pretends. I feel a person who acts, cannot continue the act for long. I heard he speaks only to a couple of people in the village, and faced a disturbance in his life which is why he is like this. I only took the point and researched if he is mad or not. I got what I wanted and ignored the rest of the tales.”
“From here the story is mine”, he says. In the movie, the lead character plays a butcher and is known to all as Meka Suri. He falls for Rani, a domestic help who works for a Zamindar (Appala Naidu). Meka Suri marries her. We also get to know that Suri is a sort of guy who never listens to anyone except Rani. She likes his personality, courage et al. There is another character called Seshagiri in the village who takes a liking to Rani but Rani had already set her heart on Suri.
Appala Naidu is wooing Rani with money and Rani does all this in the cover of darkness. Suri gets to know that she is cheating on him but she doesn’t care. She thinks that the money she earns will be of help to the family. The entire village rebukes Suri, they call him a real Meka (goat) who ignores his wife’s philandering. Unable to digest this, he butchers her as he does to a goat when Rani is having a private moment with Appala Naidu. What happens later on is intrigue, twist after twist post his return from jail. It is a must watch, says Trinadh.
Director Trinadh stayed in a village with his team for fifty days, shooting both part one and two. The sequel is almost ready and will probably be out in September. The film has been originally planned for an OTT release. The lead actor Abhinay Reddy has a theatre background. The film is produced by Simba Entertainments and 1725 Studio and is associated with Zee5.
