Dance performer-actor Raghava Lawrence, who is known for his charity, has appealed to the people not to contribute to the charity trust he is currently running.
The reason is that he is now well off to take care of the downtrodden children. Instead, he urged contributors to reach out to other charity organisations which are in dire need of financial help.
“A few days ago, I requested everyone not to send money to my trust. The reason behind my request is I started the trust when I was a dance master. I started looking after 60 physically challenged children, teaching them to dance and helping them in performing heart surgeries. At that time I needed help. So, I sought help from others. I used to do a film every two years back then. Now, I am doing three films every year. As I am earning enough money I thought I could take care of charity work by myself. So, I decided not to take help from others.”
He further said he is not saying this out of arrogance. “As I am abundant to look after my things, I wanted people to donate to others who are in need. There are several trusts around us which are in need of financial help. I request you to help them. It will be very helpful for them,” he added.
Lyca Productions CEO Subhaskaran donated one crore rupees to Lawrence’s trust during ‘Chandramukhi 2’ audio launch event. Lawrence announced that by contributing his money in addition to that donation, he will construct a building in the name of Subhaskaran’s mother by buying land. He said that the building will be used by his students to learn and practice dance.
